Being involved and connected with other followers of God is a primary focus at West Shore Free Church. Through gatherings, intentional prayer, service and many other opportunities, we have a place for you to grow deeper in your faith. We put involvement before membership, and with so many ways to participate in the life of our church, we encourage you to just take the next step!
Alpha is a safe space to explore life’s biggest questions in a friendly, honest and informal setting. This 11-week discussion group is an opportunity for anyone to explore spirituality from a Christian perspective. Each session includes a short film and conversation where you can share what you think with a small group of people who also have questions. We offer Alpha twice a year in the fall and spring.
Our LifeGroups are one of the primary discipleship strategies we use to grow in Christ together and to pursue our mission as one church body. Each group consists of 5-11 people who gather together on a regular basis in peoples’ homes to have a time of fellowship, intentional prayer and a discussion on the sermon using the weekly sermon guide provided. We offer LifeGroup Launches three times a year to help form new groups.
We offer many opportunities to serve the church, the community and the world. Take time to pray about where God might be calling you to help. Mark your calendars for the next Explore West Shore class, where you will hear directly from ministry partners about current needs.
Sacrificial giving is an important part of our faith. Returning a portion of the bounty that God gives to us reminds us of the source of all our blessings and keeps our gratitude focused on Him.
We encourage anyone who calls West Shore Free Church their church home to join us as an official church member. Our hope is that you have taken time to get to know the church well before you take this step through regularly attending our worship services, attending classes that are offered to learn more about the church, serving in a ministry area and even trying a LifeGroup. While not required to become a member, these are practices that we hope our members will participate in and are great ways to learn if this is a church you want to commit to.
We take membership seriously, so we walk alongside people in their membership journey with care and attention, including a required Membership Class. During this class, we cover the Evangelical Free Church Statement of Faith, West Shore Free Church’s mission and values, and expectations for members. Attendance is required for church membership, and prospective members can choose to attend a three-week course or a one-day event. We cover the same information in both formats. Contact us to see when our next membership class is offered.
I will commit to pursuing a close, daily relationship with Jesus through prayer and the study and application of His word, and to fight against all temptations to sin and sin patterns to which I am prone.I will commit to being present for worship with this church family with significant regularity. I will commit to living life closely connected to other members of this church family (belonging). I will commit to training for the work of ministry for which God has designed me and to which He has called me. I will commit to pursuing opportunities to multiply my faith in others. I will commit to serve this church family with my spiritual gifts and skills. I will commit to giving financially to this church family sacrificially and cheerfully. I will submit myself to measures of discipline determined by the elders of the church in the event that persistent, willful sin in my life harms me along with the body of Christ and needs to be addressed. I will commit to seek unity in order to build up the body of Christ, and to work to resolve conflict in a grace-filled and God-honoring way.
